This fundraiser concert is being held to help support the making of 'Journey of a Story.' a WWII film by Earthwire Productions of Auckland. The story follows the life of a fictional character William Brown It is based on the actual events of Private George Parrish who was taken POW in Greece and spent four years in a POW in Graz Austria. It follows his repatriation back in New Zealand after the war and the many challenges he has to overcome.
This is a story many New Zealanders can relate to.
This film is being made with the written support of the Auckland RSA President Gary Walker, the President of the Australian RSL and the Commodore of the New Zealand Defence Force P.J. Williams.

The Creative Hawke’s Bay Lecture Series 2010

Creative Hawke’s Bay’s monthly Lecture Series are back. Held in association with the Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery, lectures will feature an eclectic range of international and national speakers presenting a variety of topics from urban design to art history, fashion and architecture. The Lectures provide a forum to encourage and challenge thinking about a number of topics that relate to art, culture and design in a broad frame of reference.
Always entertaining, often controversial and definitely stimulating, the 2010 Lecture Series will be launched with a special presentation by New York based New Zealand artist Max Gimblett on Tuesday 2 March 2010.
Following Max’s presentation, the 2nd Lecture will be held on Tuesday 9 March, and the series will continue on the second Tuesday of each month until November. All lectures are held at the HBMAG and start at 7.00pm. Admission is $10 pre-sales available from Creative HB and door sales on the night.
Speakers for April through to November are being scheduled at present and include art critic Hamish Keith, photographer Marti Friedlander, urban designer Ludo Campbell-Reid, filmmaker Gaylene Preston, architect Ian Athfield, fashion designer Miranda Brown, design writer Douglas Lloyd Jenkins and art historian Dr Damian Skinner in conversation with artist Para Matchitt.
