This is a list of the Hawke's Bay Museum & Art Gallery upcoming events.

The Creative Hawke’s Bay Lecture Series 2010

Date/Time: March - November 2010
Event: Creative Hawke’s Bay’s monthly Lecture Series are back. Held in association with the Hawke’s Bay Museum & Art Gallery, lectures will feature an eclectic range of international and national speakers presenting a variety of topics from urban design to art history, fashion and architecture. The Lectures provide a forum to encourage and challenge thinking about a number of topics that relate to art, culture and design in a broad frame of reference.

Always entertaining, often controversial and definitely stimulating, the 2010 Lecture Series will be launched with a special presentation by New York based New Zealand artist Max Gimblett on Tuesday 2 March 2010.

Following Max’s presentation, the 2nd Lecture will be held on Tuesday 9 March, and the series will continue on the second Tuesday of each month until November. All lectures are held at the HBMAG and start at 7.00pm. Admission is $10 door sales on the night.

Speakers for April through to November are being scheduled at present and include art critic Hamish Keith, photographer Marti Friedlander, urban designer Ludo Campbell-Reid, filmmaker Gaylene Preston, architect Ian Athfield, fashion designer Miranda Brown, design writer Douglas Lloyd Jenkins and art historian Dr Damian Skinner in conversation with artist Para Matchitt.

The Faraday Centre

Date/Time: Wednesdays and Fridays from 9.00am to 1.00pm and on Saturdays from 9.00am to 11.30am.
Event: Experience a journey down memory lane in an Aladdin’s Cave of historical technology. The Tesla coil will be running again over the school holidays at specified times.

Berry Historical Library - Now Closed to the Public

Date/Time: From 28 June 2010
Event: In order to prepare our collections for the redevelopment the library will be closed to the public from Monday 28 June 2010 and will not be able to respond to enquiries.

There will also be a moratorium on donations to the archive and collection until April 2011.

The Creative Hawke’s Bay Lecture Series 2010 - Marti Friedlander Photographer & Professor Leonard Bell Art Historian & Author

Date/Time: Tuesday 10th August at 7pm
Event: Marti Friedlander: Looking Closely Marti Friedlander has been taking photographs for over 50 years and is one of NZ’s most celebrated photographers. This presentation will focus on a selection of the photographs that were included in last year's exhibition of her work at the University of Auckland's Gus Fisher Gallery - portraits of artists, writers and musicians, street and beach scenes in NZ, as well as photographs taken in Israel, Austria, and the Pacific Islands. All lectures are held at the HBMAG and start at 7.00pm. Admission is $10 door sales on the night

Friends Evening August 2010 - The Review Process - Reporting Back

Date/Time: Thursday 12 August 2010 at 5.30pm
Event: At the 2009 AGM the Committee was given the task of reviewing the friends' structure and purposes. This has been both a challenging and positive process.Tonight, in preparation for the 2010 AGM, the Committee reports back.

Please come to hear the resulting proposal and be a part of this important discussion. We want to hear what you think.

2010 New Zealand International Film Festival - Opening Night

Date/Time: Wednesday 18 August 2010 at 7pm

Friends Evening September 2010 - Notice of Annual General Meeting

Event: Notice is hereby given of the Annual General Meeting of friends of Hawke’s Bay Cultural Trust. With an address by Richard Daniels of Opus, architect for HBMAG’s redevelopment project.
